We’re not just passionate about automotive stuff, we’re passionate about where we live too. We do what we can to help out our local communities, from sponsoring sports events to cheering from the sidelines to taking part in events and raising funds.
We might only be a small local company but collectively we have a very big heart. Here are some of the things we’ve done to support our local communities. There’ll be more!
Supporting Lisa McGee Education
Lisa McGee Education delivers Department of Education funded Holiday Activity and Food Programmes (HAF)across three counties in Tees Valley. This is a treat for them on the last day which they may not be able to otherwise have. They are aimed at children eligible for free school meals and we give them hot meals, healthy snacks and at least one hour of physical activity as well as other enrichments. They have given socks, gloves, toiletries, toothpaste and toothbrushes, food and gardening materials before . This time they have
raised money for Easter eggs as a treat but in summer they will again raise money for toiletries.
We were chuffed to learn about all that Lisa McGee Education do and jumped at the chance to deliver a batch of Easter Eggs to support them.
You can support Lisa McGee by getting in touch through the website www.lisamcgeeeducation.co.uk
The Minis Came and supported Zoe's Place Baby Hospice
This summer (2021), ORMF and our supplier Liqui Moly are co-sponsoring three young drivers in the Mini Challenge UK.
On 16th September, ahead of the race meeting at Croft Circuit, we invited the three drivers to bring their cars to our Lloyd Street branch for a Meet and Greet. We also had a race simulator for guests to try their hand at racing the Croft Circuit. Food was supplied by Pie Jackers, there was a tombola and we were raising funds for Zoe's Place Baby Hospice who were on site with their own tombola and available to chat with about the charity.
The weather was kind and the day was a huge success with around 100 people through the gate. In total we raised £1500 for Zoe's Place! Here's a few photos of the day.
Keeping MAIN on the Road
Local charity MAIN - Taking Autism Personally, were in need of new brakes all round for their bus. The bus is a key part of the service they offer to help people get to and from their events and keep them involved and learning, so it's important to keep it roadworthy. In partnership with our fab supplier Mintex, brakes and pads were provided and delivered. Here's Richard handing them over to Rory Brady from the charity.
This is what Mintex has to say about helping us keep the Main bus on the road: TMD Friction is delighted to be able to support the MAIN charity, in partnership with Oak Road & Whitby Motor Factors. With vehicles moving more following periods of inactivity due to covid-19 restrictions, it is essential that the charity’s community bus can continue to carry out the amazing work it does in a safe and roadworthy manner. The automotive supply chain has performed admirably in the past 18 months and once again the Mintex brand has risen to the task when called upon to support its distribution network and worthy causes. We are super lucky to work with such caring and supportive suppliers.
Friends of Kirkleatham Church Yard
They called and we answered. Along with a whole bunch of local businesses we supplied items for their raffle to raise much needed funds to keep the church yard tickety-boo. If you win you’ll be giving your pride and joy and good clean and wheel shine!
Teesside Family Foundation Selection Box Appeal, Christmas 2019
Teesside Family Foundation put the call out and we responded.
Every year the foundation gives out around 3,000 selection boxes, given out during our Santa visits to sick children, disadvantaged children & children with disabilities.
We did our bit. You can do yours too – I’m sure they’ll be collecting again in 2020 – it’s been a horrible year and kids will need to smile!
Three Cheers for the Middlesbrough businessman Feeding Humanity
This week (end of August 2018) we donated a load of foodstuff to Feeding Humanity. Local garage owner and grandfather Ghafoor Hussain is converting a bus to add to his fleet. He takes these buses around Europe feeding those who are in need through being displaced from their own countries. Sarah and Daisy dropped off the donation from Oak Road earlier this week – huge bags of rice, bottled water and various snacks. Ghafoor is currently en route to Belgium via Scotland to collect more food.
The bus is being converted to contain a sink, four huge burners for cooking and a serving area. Ghafoor will set off next week (early September 2018) on his next mission.
